CRASH-B's / World Indoor Rowing Championships

The World Indoor Rowing Championships were held in Boston, MA on Sunday, February 17, 2013.

Over 2200 rowers from 24 countries around the world came to Boston to compete in what is the biggest event in indoor rowing of the year.  You race by age group and gender and your race is 2000 meters.

Two GIR members competed in this event.  John Obermeier placed 11th in the Mens 50-54 Heavyweight category with a 2K time of 6:41.0.  Lowell Caylor took 3rd place and the Bronze Medal in the Mens 70-74 Heavyweight category with a 2K time of 7:25.0.

Atlanta Erg Sprints 2013

On February 9, 2013, a team of 14 GIR members went to Atlanta to compete in the Atlanta Erg Sprints, a regional indoor rowing competition.  The GIR Team Atlanta 2013 was composed of the following people:

Brittany Buchanan, Carolyn Glosek, Debbie Busbey, Doug Nelson, Fortrail Chiles, Garry Patton, Jennifer Craft, John Obermeier, Maggie Patton, Robin Meuldijk, Sandy Austin, Thom Hansen, Ulrike Bonn and Vicy Wilkinson.

We came away with a total of 9 medals, grabbing Three Gold, Two Silver and Four Bronze.  Our ladies did especially well.  They swept the 40-49 age group and took  first and second in the 50-59 age group.  Well done, Team Atlanta 2013 !!
